Moving on, when I started reading it times were stressful, I went to a Harry Potter midnight madness sale at Barnes and Noble with my girlfriend. At the time the seventh book was coming out, and, as a matter of fact, it was to go on sale at the stroke of midnight. My girlfriend is a fan and she was really hoping that I would be to, and I can relate, being a Star Wars geek, and all, however I really wasn't feeling it. I had already seen three of the movies and read the first book, and couldn't stomach it, nor could I stomach the idea of becoming a fan. This much knowledge, however, is insufficient, so they say, in determining whether one is a fan or not. Being afraid of being perceived as a) an idiot and b) a type who thinks he's to cool for this shit, I tried desperately to keep an open mind. It was this moment when the shit hit the fan; apparently some kids thought it would be funny to leave papers with spoilers on the ground, so if one were to pick one up he/she would have the outcome exposed untimely. I understand how annoying it is when someone gives away the ending to a book or movie, whether it being accidental or intentional, but that was not the problem. The problem was that people were actually conspiring inflicting physical harm on the people leaving the spoiler; that is wrong. Physically attacking someone for spoiling a story is even lower than physically attacking someone for saying something mean. The worst part was nobody around seemed to think "Dude! That is really fucked up. It's just a book!"
Anyway, this isn't the main reason why I hate it; the book itself doesn't stand on it's own. I hated the characters and the environment. Everything just seemed way too campy, and I feel like Rowling spent little time creating it. I'm not saying she's a bad writer, I mean, the book's had clever plot twists, but I wasn't digging the environment. If anybody plans to bitch me out for this, you have no right. I'm entitled to my own opinion. It wouldn't be fair if I insulted someone's intelligence for bashing Return of the Jedi, would it. Of course not; one's a movie and the other is a person. This is just how I feel about the franchise; I hated the characters, the environment, and I thought Rowing's wizards were silly and campy. Some parts were kind of interesting, but overall I find these books and movies to be grand mother loads of shit! I can fucking say that! It's a fucking book! I'm sorry I don't like it, but I don't like it! That's it.
